  • This is it! Our FIRST M1 Macs video! WAAAY more to come! Apologies for taking so long! We decided to re-do all of our benchmarks from scratch, while also adding more to the list. Next video will be quicker to make and feature even more tests!

    • So Daniel, I have a question for you. Hope you reply. After you have seen the performance difference, do you think the M1 processor gives you a significant upgrade from the intel 10th gen i5 in just day to day tasks like browsing, microsoft office and video playback? Like do we have any issues in day to day tasks that got faster, or do they perform similarly. The reason i ask is that i got the intel i5 10th gen mac with 4 ports back in May for university use and i use it mostly for these tasks and light video editing and photo editing. Do you think i should upgrade or should i wait for the transition to be over and then get the redesigned macbook pro then which will also have much better 2nd-3rd gen M series chips.

  • Great review. I currently have a 27 inch late 2012 iMac with 3.4 GHZ Intel core i7 and 16 GB of ram. I edit using FCPX and DaVinci Resolve Studio but I have decided to ditch the desktop for a laptop. My editing is strictly for personal use. I restore old super 8 films and 1080P HD films. Do you think the basic MacBook Air M1 with 8GB ram will be sufficient or what upgrades should I make?

(Photoshop, lightroom and illustrator) I just ordered the MacBook Pro M1 512gb with 8gb ram. Should I call and ask if they can instead send me the M1 AIR with 512ssd and 16gb ram instead? Or should I put other 300$ on the table and get the 16gb ram MacBook Pro? Or will I be good editing 4k and using Adobe suite on the 8gb MacBook Pro m1?

  • The Apple's M1 chip performance is utterly amazing, but I would personally wait to upgrade until Apple Silicon is available that supports four thunderbolt 4 ports with higher GPU performance. I currently have a MacBook Pro 13 2019 model with i7 Processor and four ports. For my current usage which includes using Bootcamp and attaching an eGPU for gaming, it performs fine. I also use Parallels Desktop for Mac OS, so Bootcamp is not a long term must have, but I would like to see how the latest version optimised for Apple Silicon performs before making any upgrade decision. I do plan to buy a 2021 iPad Pro post March 2021 if based on an A14X or similar chip, as I like having a touch display. The biggest M1 MacBook omission is the lack of a touch display. How can you properly run iOS apps on a MacBook without a touch display? Any keyboard / mouse / trackpad optimisation is just another kludge like the touchbar!. Fingers and touch were around long before the keyboard, so why does Apply wish to continue to restrict input methods on their Mac devices?

  • Well Dan, If you can fry a steak on the Intel-based Macbook Pro 13", then on the 16" Macbook Pro you should be able to cook a whole casserole. Therefore, Intel was thinking about your household people - throw away the cooker - you don't need it anymore in your kitchen. BUY YOURSELF A MACBOOK PRO with Intel Processor and step into another level of cooking where you will become a master chef! Talking about the 16" MacBook Pro, when is the new one coming Dan, do you have any further inside info? Considering they called this one M1, if Apple continues giving motorway names of the laptops, we can expect the 16" MB PRO to be called M25. Cheers!

  • In your opinion, after the new Apple processors came out for me, the MacBook Pro ..... I am a regular user. I have an iPad Pro 12.9 inch. I use reading to browse movies and games. You recommend that I buy with an iPad MacBook Pro 13 inch because of the games. Forget me, I only have an iPad ???? I know the last Mac laptop was the 2015 version, and after that I used an iPad. I want your opinion after I explained to you what I use ..... I mean games are light games that I use on an iPad. I don’t understand games like Windows. This is what I mean, except that I use it to watch movies other than This will be used to download books and novels on an iPad, this is my intention and sorry for prolonging .... Water cooling, huge cases, giant fans etc. They just can't understand that most of the market don't need that. It's like saying everyone should buy a drag racer car instead of a regular car, just cause it's bigger and faster and noisier and crosses the finish line in 5s (but at the expense of range). The reality is most users would prefer a quiet, nice looking, comfortable car that gets to the finish line in 7 secs and has a good range.

  • So do you think Apple will completely stop making Intel Macs? I mean the difference with the PowerPC-Intel transition is that IBM never really was in the mass market PowerPC CPU manufacturing while Intel is with its x64 CPUs. Intel will make some kickass CPUs in the (near?) future, especially in the Desktop market. So, it would be wise for Apple to not put all its eggs into the Apple Silicon basket, but keeping making Intel based Macs where it makes sense (iMac/Mac Pro/some MacBook Pro models). With Universal apps it will be easy to do.

  • I think it’s worth mentioning that this better battery life is due to the power efficiency, so saves electricity and therefore the planet. Is it enough to make a difference say if 80% of MacBook owners switched, I don’t know but at least it’s a step in the right direction. Manufacturers seem to rely on their thermal dissipation for performance, I would like to see more focus on not quite as performant CPUs and GPUs that are a lot more thermally performant. Good job Apple showing it can be done. Hopefully Nvidia, AMD and Nvidia can follow suit, at least with one line of products. Or maybe we’ll see the likes of Qualcomm rise up in the laptop and PC market.

  • Max Yuryev did a video about 48hours ago... Which show without reasonable doubt apple lied flat out lied in their claims about the M1 MacBook Pro!.. he showed the device cannot even edit a 5minute 8k timeline in final cut Pro, apples own software.. he didn't even bother with 8k in davinci resolve as 4.5k & 6k footage lagged, dropped alot of frames in both premier Pro and davinci resolve!.. therefore apples claims the M1 MacBook Pro can effortlessly edit, playback and render/export an 8k timeline without dropping a single frame was flat out false advertising and lies!!!!!! Imagine trying to edit a 30-40minute 4k timeline in davinci resolve the M1 MacBook Pro would turn into a chugging messs!!! Yes it can edit a 5minute 4k timeline better than the macpro.. but who's documantary, even VIworld video is 5minsong unless it's a short clip of how to turn of the PS5!!!.. disgraceful everyone's so like omg there amazing... Noo apple lied flat out lied, does that make people feel good that they purchased based on a lie!!!??? I dare I dare someone to try and edit a 45minute 4k 10bit 4.2.2. Video shot on the Sony A7S3 or canon R5 in davinci resolve or premier Pro!! Let's not forget apple specifically claimed it could edit 8k files in davinci resolve!!!.. hell I dare someone to edit and make a video showing the M1 MacBook Pro can edit & colour grade a 45min 8k timeline from a red cinema camera in davinci resolve without dropping a frame!. Nobody will because it can't do it!.

  • It has the best performance in gaming, it just doesn't support any games.. its a workstation, not a gaming laptop and I guess apple Mac's will never be. Sad because I would gladly switch to macOs if all games were supported, but it doesn't. It's a step forward in performance and battery life, but a step backwards in so many other areas. No bootcamp, no more than 1 monitor support, apps are not completely supported yet. Its a first version, so you are the beta tester when you buy this..
